Creativity/Play…great video!

Ideo’s website

Anybody who knows me knows that I am definitely not afraid to share my ideas (no matter how “impossible” they first appear to be). This often results in very difficult situations because many people are not open to new (“big”) ideas, so there is often a lot of wasted conversation since creative people want to talk and non-creative people refuse to listen…

Tim Brown is 100% correct that most people have lost their ability to be creative due to fear. Fear of rejection, ridicule and embarrassment encourages people to stop when they have unique ideas. This is very unfortunate considering that once you learn how to develop ideas, you can actually become very skilled at finding new ones and nurturing others’ ideas.

There is definitely some practice required with handling ideas, and it is my belief that extremely creative people have developed this skill so much so that they can make snap judgements regarding raw concepts much faster than the average person can (even if the average person has access to more information about that concept).

“Ideas are like rabbits. You get a couple and learn how to handle them, and pretty soon you have a dozen.” John Steinbeck

Creativity is all about HOW* you think…If you think something cannot be done, then you will not solve the problem, but if you start with the initial understanding that there IS a solution (it just hasn’t been discovered yet), then you can open yourself up to developing some very innovative ideas. Good luck!
