TEDtalk Marc Pachter – The art of the interview

Mr. Pachter highlights that the power of a great interview is to get the person being interviewed to elaborate on the “accidents” that happened to cause the final outcome.  Along the way, the interviewee has to be willing to open up and remove the innate modesty that a lot of honestly successful individuals possess.  To get the interviewee to let their guard down is key to getting to the core of their life story.  I love the point that Clare Boothe Luce was acting differently when he was the only person in the room, but once there was an audience, he had become her competitor – competing for the audience’s attention/approval.
